About the role: 

The Network Engineer is responsible for providing expert services to the customers in relation to implementing, managing, operating and supporting their technologically diverse IT environments. This role provides first line response in tending to BAU support functions along with deployment and implementation services for Managed Services clients of the company along with the core network.

· Detailed design, implementation and deployment of customer projects;

· Coordinate technical activities with key internal and client stakeholders;

· Develop technical change requests, migration and test plans;

· Support Project Managers in managing project scope and risks effectively;

· Develop as-built and handover documentation to ensure seamless transition to BAU;

· Liaise with vendors, service providers and internal stakeholders to execute technical change;

· Responding to Support Tickets and Service Requests in relation to internal and external customer networks, in a timely manner;

· Responding to fault escalations from internal stakeholders; and

· From time to time, perform on call or planned work outside of core business hours.

 

Main activities:

· Monitoring, analysis and management of the performance of specified Networks and/or services and ensuring the restoration of faults within agreed time frames and to internal quality standards.

· Incident Management coordination activity for upstream provider faults.

· Process improvement focusing on tools, hardware and software used by the MSG.

· Ongoing maintenance of systems under management.

· Ensuring system availability to end-users and providing root cause analysis and mitigation to minimise the impact of network faults, equipment outages and congestion.

· Liaising with other Carrier's Fault Management Centers and other technical groups within the organization regarding real time reporting, long term faults and ongoing improvements and enhancements to Network Management Systems

· Coordinating and supervising changes and outages to customer environments ensuring all work is implemented subject to the company's Change Management Guidelines

Position requirements: 

· 6 years minimum experience in IT, concentrating on network engineering;

· Hold current CCNP or higher-level certification(s) in Routing & Switching or Security;

· Strong Product skills with Cisco, Palo Alto, Meraki, FortiNet, and Cisco ASA;

· Expert or high-level skill and operational experience in these key technologies:

o Telco/ISP WAN services such as Ethernet, Fibre, DSL, VDSL and Copper;

o Firewall Security; and

o Protocols such as iBGP, eBGP, OSPF, EIGRP, DMVPN & IPSEC.

· Demonstrable time management skills, exemplary communication skills and ability to self-manage;

· Familiarity with Project and Change Management methodologies;

· Ability to communicate appropriately with client technical and executive staff; and

· Ability to provide accurate estimation in budget or schedule.
